Welcome  to the Emerald Coast Astronomy web site.   Nearly all of the photographs on this site were taken by me from my home in Miramar Beach.   If  you are curious about the equipment I used to take these pictures, click on that tab on the lower left of this page.   For those interested in astronomy lessons, deciding which telescope to buy, how to find your way around the night sky or taking pictures of objects in deep space using special equipment, drop me an email at bob@gaskin-astro.org

When you visit the Emerald Coast, one of the must places to visit if you have children is the Emerald Coast Science Center.   The telephone is 850 664.1261.   Lots of information can be found on the web site for the Emerald Coast Science Center.

For those who live in the local area and would like to learn more about astronomy by joining our local astronomy Club, The Northwest Florida Astronomy Association,  go to the Northwest Florida Astronomy Association web page.

As a young Air Force pilot, I flew the U-2 “Spy Plane” for a number of years. While it’s difficult to describe what its like to fly on the edge of space, this recent video clearly shows it. This is same type U-2R I flew, single seat of course. Click here to travel to the ultimate “high.”  Here is another production from if you are still curious.
